Clogged Gutters will be a Thing of the Past

If raking leaves from the yard doesn’t exactly rate high on everyone’s favorite chore list, what more cleaning them out of the roof’s gutter? It’s either you clean it yourself or pay someone a hefty sum to do it for you. If you’re unwilling to do either on a regular basis, then you might want to install a gutter guard instead.

Guarding against the threat of leaves

A house’s rain gutters are prone to clogging by leaves and twigs. This prompted the invention of the gutter guard which is supposed to catch the leaves, thereby preventing gutter build-up and obstruction. Experts are quick to point out that gutter guards will not completely free you from gutter cleaning, but it will reduce the frequency of cleanings.

Types of gutter guards

The reverse curve gutter guard actually directs water into the gutter through a small opening and deflects leaves to the ground. Mesh gutter guards are metal screens that prevent leaves from landing inside the gutter. Bottle brush gutter guards have bristles that catch the leaves as they land. Non-gutter covers are substitutes for gutters that look like shutters which direct rain water away from the roof.

The cost of guarding against a threat

The prices of installing gutter guards vary, depending on the size of your house and the kind of gutter guard you select. If you feel the cost of installing it can be offset by the reduced number of cleanings, then give your contractor a call right away.
